Ancho Poblano Hot Pepper | Capsicum annuum | Certified Organic by Ecocert Canada | Annual | Open Pollinated | Heirloom
Mild chilli in the shape of a heart that is ideal for chiles rellenos or for drying to make ancho chilli powder. Medium-sized, dark green fruits with sturdy walls and a little spiciness. Known as Poblano when used fresh and Ancho when used as a condiment when dried. The plants have several branches. Adaptable cultivar with good yields in cool climates. SHU 3,000. 4 to 6″ fruit.
Companion plants: Alliums, Basil, Beans, Dill, Oregano, Marjoram, Nasturtium, Marigold, Peas, Parsley.
Far from: Kohlrabi, Cabbage, Mustard Greens, Fennel.
Planting tip: Sow seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before planting date. For best result harden off at 18-19°C
Harvesting tip: Hot peppers are ready to harvest as soon as they have achieved their final colour.
Storage tip: Store at 10-12°C with a relative humidity of 95%
