Creeping Thyme (Thymus serpyllum) is a low-growing, aromatic perennial herb that forms a dense mat of tiny, gray-green leaves, making it an excellent ground cover. It produces small, lavender to pink flowers in late spring to early summer, attracting pollinators like bees and butterflies. Creeping thyme is drought-tolerant and can withstand light foot traffic, making it ideal for between stepping stones or as a lawn alternative. Its aromatic foliage is also used in culinary dishes and herbal remedies. .

Companion plants: Potato, Shallot, Tomato, Strawberry, Eggplant, Rose, Salad Burnet, Blueberry, Cabbage, Lavender.
Far from: Chives, Basil, Cilantro.
Planting tip: Seed stratification is required for 2-4 weeks. Sow indoors 10 weeks before last spring frost. Water sensitive.
Harvesting tip: Pruning encourages bushy growth. Harvest in morning as concentration of aromatics oils are highest at this time.
Storage tip: Fresh thyme should be stored refrigerated and wrapped lightly in plastic; it should last one to two weeks. To dry thyme, hang the sprigs in a dark, well-ventilated, warm area.
