Detroit Dark Red Beet | id:963 | Beta vulgaris | Certified Organic by Ecocert Canada | Biennial | Open Pollinated | Heirloom
A superb quality heirloom variety, extensively known for high-quality roots. Strong tops, uniform 3” round beets and good for eating and canning.
Companion plants: Lettuce, Alliums, Bush Beans, Brassicas (except mustard), Radish, Marigold, Catnip. 
Far from: Pole Beans, Mustard Family.
Planting tip: Soaking in warm water for up to 12H is recommended for improved germination. Direct seed after all danger of frost has passed. For fall planting seed 6-8 weeks before fall frost.
Harvesting tip: Harvest as needed. Harvest any size
Storage tip: Store at 0°C and 95% humidity. Cut tops 1” above the base of the stem. Put in plastic bags to retain moisture.
