The genus Echinopsis, native to southern South America, globular cacti that are quite cold tolerant and have free-flowering with large white, yellow, pink or lavender flowers. Cristate forms usually do not flower. Cold tolerant protect from frost to avoid scarring. Provide filtered light; hardy to 20F, to 6" tall. Water thoroughly when soil is dry.
