Lavender | id:23593 | Lavandula angustifolia | Ecologically grown | Perennial | Open Pollinated | Heirloom
Companion plants: Rose, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Rue, Cabbage, Mint, Apple, Sage, Rosemary, Thyme.
Planting tip: Sow the seed indoors 10 to 12 weeks prior to the last frost date. Seed stratification required (3 weeks). Dampen the soil mix, press the seeds into the surface, insert the pots into plastic bags, and put them in your freezer for 2-7 days. If germination is low after 3-4 weeks, lower the °T to 5-10°C for 2 weeks, then raise it again. Do not use a plastic lid or covering because this will make the surface of the soil too moist. For second year trim plants back hard in spring, just as new growth starts. Never prune back to woody stems.
Harvesting tip: Gather the flowers just as they open. Pick the leaves anytime to use fresh, or if you’re dehydrating lavender leaves, gather before flowering starts.
