(Sometimes called Gormania spathulifolia) This well-behaved Stonecrop species is an excellent edging or rock garden plant, particularly for hot, dry sites. It forms a low, slow-spreading cushion or carpet of powdery, grey-green leaves. Bright yellow starry flowers appear in late summer. Although hardy, this selection performs best in the Pacific Northwest, and suffers through winters in most other regions because of wet winter soil conditions, so it is not always long-lived. Worth a try in an alpine trough garden or gravel scree. A good candidate for any collection of fine alpine plants. Evergreen. Native wildflower, from coastal Oregon.
