Stokes’ Aster is a North American native wildflower that is a wonderful addition to the sunny border. This selection, named after the plantswoman who discovered it, Peachie Saxton of Mississippi, has typical lavender-blue, stokesia-type flowers but they bloom longer and a bit later in the season. Upright habit and attractive green foliage that may remain evergreen in mild winter areas. Solid performer. Tolerant of hot, humid summer regions. Great for cutting and attractive to butterflies. This needs good drainage, particularly in the winter, so a raised bed or rock garden might suit it well. Also a good candidate for mixed containers. Remove faded flowers to encourage more buds.
