BRANDYWINE RED TOMATO | id:55987 | Solanum lycopersicum | Certified Organic by Ecocert Canada | Annual | Open Pollinated | Heirloom
The Red Brandywine tomato is a large, beefsteak-shaped heirloom with deep red, pinkish hues. Known for its sweet, tart, and juicy flavor, it grows up to 1.5 lbs (0.7 kg). Originating from Amish farms near Brandywine Creek, PA, it has become a popular heirloom for its outstanding taste, perfect for slicing. The vigorous vines yield large, lobed fruits that have won flavor contests, and its thin skin adds to its appeal in dishes like sandwiches and salads. INDETERMINATE.

Companion plants: Basil, Parsley, Carrot, Asparagus, Alliums, Celery, Borage, Marigold, Calendula, Mint, Sage, Peppers, Dill (until mature).
Far from: Potato, Corn, Kohlrabi, Beet, Fennel, Peas, Squash.
Planting tip: Sow indoors 6-8 weeks before planting. Reduce water & nitrogen when hardening off. Staking required.
Harvesting tip: For best taste harvest when fully ripe, expressed its full colour. Can also harvest when tomato is green and expressed its 1st blush; if so, let tomato ripen off-vine above 21°C.
Storage tip: Store at 12-21°C, relative humidity 95%.
